Let’s Go Bucs! Root for our favorite baseball team against the Milwaukee Brewers! Participating Girl Scouts will also receive a Pittsburgh Pirates Girl Scout Patch. And, the first 1,000 Girl Scouts and leaders to purchase tickets will have the opportunity to go on the field at PNC Park to be recognized during a special salute to Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania!
Stop by our Pittsburgh Girl Scout shop before the game to stock up on summer gear. The shop will be open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 19: Girl Scout Day at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium
Note: The schedule for the day will be posted here once it’s available.
This year’s Girl Scout Day at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is Sunday, Sept. 19. We can bear-ly contain our excitement!
Safety & Timed Entry
Currently, face masks are required at this event, and GSWPA will communicate any updates to this policy. Face masks must be worn in both indoor and outdoor locations. This applies to adults and children 2 years and older.
In order to maintain social distancing there will be no walk in registrations this year. All family members that will be participating in any of the Girl Scout special sessions will need to register in advance.
Families will register for a check-in time: 9:30 a.m., 10 a.m. (link coming soon!), 10:30 a.m., and 11 a.m. Please do not arrive before your allotted time, and send only one person from your group to check in.
How to register for the event with a Pittsburgh Zoo membership:
Girl Scouts who have a Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium membership are welcome to use their zoo membership for admission to Girl Scout Day on September 19, 2021 and will receive a discounted rate of $3 per person.
Use this form to submit your membership information. A confirmation screen will appear with a special promo code and a link to the registration page. The $3 registration fee must be paid in advance of the event.
You will also receive an email including the promo code. Please be sure to only use this promo code for people entering on your Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium membership. The information on this form will be used to verify your membership with the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium before the event in September.
There will be no walk in registrations.
Saturday, Sept. 25-Sunday, Sept. 26: Journey-Palooza
This year’s Journey-Palooza at Camp Redwing will center around “It’s Your Planet, Love It.” Girls will explore nature, discover their role as environmental stewards, and earn their Journey Award. Girl Scouts will also have time for classic camp activities like nature hikes and possibly archery (weather permitting).
What to expect
Journey-Palooza will be a single-day event from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. to allow for greater social distancing and smaller groups. Brownies, Juniors and Cadettes will participate on Saturday, September 25, and Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors will participate on Sunday, September 26. Because Cadettes have historically been our largest group to attend Journey-Palooza, Saturday and Sunday are both open to them.
A morning snack and an evening snack will be provided, but girls will be responsible for bringing their own brown bag lunch (preferably something that will not require refrigeration).
For groups who are traveling or would like to stay overnight at camp while attending Journey-Palooza, you’re invited to rent individual platform tents to accommodate your group at a rate of $12 per tent. Each tent can sleep four. The group leader will need to call Customer Care and have payment information ready in order to reserve the number of tents needed. Please note that if your group is staying overnight, you will be responsible for meals and girl supervision.
Save the date for fun in the fall!
